As I sit here typing it is just hours from midnight and Christmas of 2023. This year has sure flown by.

I remember the week after Christmas last year thinking, well, Christmas is over, now it is an entire year until we get to enjoy it again, and here we are , days from having the same thoughts again.

I always take time the end of each year and try to think of what I have accomplished and what I did not accomplish and think about the things I would like to do in the new year.

Call it a to do list,

a New Years resolution,

goals for the new year,

it really does not matter what we call them, but many of us do it.

Lose weight,

save money,

get our house clean and organized,

get my work space, craft room, studio, organized,

purge,

have a yard sale,

excercise more.

So, many others as well.

This year we spent taking care of two of our younger grandkids full time while our daughter works. One is currently six, here little brother is currently three and a half. Next May, he will be four. We will baby sit until my husband retires, then our daughter will have to find a new sitter, but we want to travel and do a lot once he retires, although she will have us for back up when she needs us . But that is a couple of years away.

It has been a bit rough up until the last few months with the kids. I was stuck in the family room in the back of the house, my studio and resell room pretty much abandoned most of the time. .

Now that the youngest is getting older, he is so much easier. Now I can take them up to our front living room every day and I can work in my studio and resell rooms which both ajoin the room they are in. They have all the toys they could want. A big tv and an Ipad for when they want to watch different things.

I could not really make goals last year, it is was hard to do much of anything.

Now, the three year old still interupts me quite a bit , when he needs something he needs it now , which is just how small kids are. I just make sure I am doing things I can easily pick up and set down as needed. That said, he does it less and less as time goes on.

This past year did not go as planned, the small amount of plans I did have .

I had , with my husband of course, purchased a nice size shed. Had it built with a regular door and two windows, on a corner so each is the same distance from the corner so when I can finally use it, the computer can be put in the corner between the two windows.

It is supposed to be my resell room. Instead a very full, and messy ,fourth bedroom is my resell room. Soooooo…..this coming year, 2024, my goal is to get everything out of that building. Most of it is all garage sale, or resell stuff , a good part of it is from three of our four grown kids and their families. The yard sale never happened. It has to happen this year. I want to get that bedroom cleaned out. I need the space that building would give me and get the business,although part time, out of the house. It may take more than one sale but we cannot go through our other buildings to find the stuff WE want to sell with all the kids stuff in that room. There is a lot of our stuff too, but 3/4 of it is theirs. We truly want to do a major purge, but we need space to put what we are getting rid of, so the kids have to have their sale !!

So, that is goal number one. Since all three kids will be together tomorrow on Christmas day we are doing to have a talk about it.

The rest of my goals are more average. Get on, and stay on an eating plan and get some major weight off. Get the debt gone. Save money, same old, same old. We have a bit of urgency now however. My husband plans to retire in a couple of years, so we have got to get ourselves on track, no more messing around with it all !!!

Also, both my husband and I want to work on some side hustles, things we can take into retirement in a couple of years, reselling, selling my own handmade jewelry, working on starting a stock photo hobby business, my YouTube channel, doing another channel with his stained glass, and work on getting a couple of books I started finished. In todays self publish Amazon world, it is very easy to do !!

I also plan on coming here and writing again on a regular basis. I was never as happy as the years I spent writing regularly on this blog, and my other blog where I do my creative stuff, so it is time to get back to writing again.

my studio, a wonderful, creative mess, but need to really get it cleaned up once and for all so I can create more !! You can see the resell room door which is across the hall from this room !!

So, I have a lot of plans for next year, which also include finally finishing painting our kitchen cabinet doors and getting them hung back up on the cabinets. That will be a huge thing to get done !!
